Into the Future
First Time
If it hadn't been so important it might have been easier.
Laces got tangled.
Buttons got lost.
Fumbling. Awkward. Intense.
Too many knees and elbows.
Muscle cramps in a thigh unused to bending like that for so long.
Trepidation.
Spike had only topped that once, under Dru's insistent direction.
Xander had bottomed... for Faith, but that was all he'd ever done.
(Anya had scared him silly that day, with the dress and the condoms and... stuff.)
And on top of the usual stresses and strains was the thought, in the back of both minds:
What if the chip goes off?
Seconds To Spare
"Gods, Spike, that was close! I thought for sure she was going to catch us that time!"
Spike reached out and fastened a missed button on Xander's shirt, taking the opportunity to tease his lover's nipples, still tight and sensitive beneath the soft cotton. The week it had taken to talk him into the piercings had been well spent.
"Never happen, luv. I told you, I've got eyes in the back of my head and ears like a bat. There's no way the Slayer's ever gonna sneak up on us shagging, no matter how loud you're begging and whimpering..."
"Spike!"
The Gift of Time
There were five Akrashkin demons, not four; a fact they discovered too late to make it count.
The fifth came out of the trees and took the hindmost member down. The one who'd agreed to hang well back to keep him out of danger. The one who only had time for one last scream before being felled by a mess of piercing, viscera-exuding wounds.
Spike let no-one near his fallen lover; he rent the midnight air with primal howls. Ignoring Buffy's cries to let him die he tore his wrist and let the gift of dark eternity trickle in.
"Please..."
Futureflash
"...And humankind believed demons weren't real and magic was sleight of hand."
Xander grinned at his audience of pale, awed faces.
"Now, off to bed, or Spike will come in and tell you what he used to get up to Topside, and then you'll never sleep."
Spike waited for the last child to scurry away to the sleeping halls before stepping out of the shadows. Xander was already on his feet.
"Sire... Spike, you had us worried, you were so late!"
"We lost a couple of tunnels, luv, but Angel's on his way back with fresh supplies, and a mage..."
